Daywise Itinerary

On arrival at the airport, as received by our representative, proceed to Tezpur. On arrival, check in at the hotel, and the evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay in Tezpur.

After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Dirang. On the way, visit Tipi Orchidarium, situated on the banks of the river Bharali, a place with over 500 orchids. On display are some rare species of orchids. Arunachal Pradesh has the largest range of orchids in the country. Take a break to visit Nag Temple. Continue your drive, and do not forget to keep your cameras handy as you cross beautiful waterfalls and get some spectacular views. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Afternoon, visit Apple Orchard and Kiwi Farm (depending on the season), Dirang Monastery, and Kalachakra Monastery. Dirang is also famous for hot water springs, where people take baths to cure skin ailments. Overnight stay at Dirang.

After an early breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Tawang, the Land of Hidden Paradise. On the way, enjoy the beauty of Sela Pass (13700 feet), a border line between two districts, i.e., Tawang and West Kameng, and Sela Lake, a small lake, that remains frozen for most of the year. Further drive to 10 km to visit the Jaswant Garh War Memorial, a memorial to the brave soldier who single-handedly tried to hold on to approaching Chinese from the pass during the 1962 Indo-China war. Later, visit the Majesty of Nuranng Falls, where scenes from the SRK-Madhuri Dixit starrer “Koyla” were shot. Arrive and check in at the hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Tawang.

After breakfast, visit Tawang Monstery, the world-famous seventeenth-century Tawang Monastery, also known as Galden Namgyal Lhatse, which overlooks the wide Tawang Valley at a height of 10,000 ft. The monastery is a vast complex of 65 buildings housing Lamas and antique scriptures written in gold letters and ancient scripture, images and it has an eight meter high gilded Buddha statue. It is the largest monastery in the Himalayan region and the second oldest monastery in Asia. Five hundred lamas live in its residential buildings, which it is rich in. Later, visit Urgeling Gompa, the 6th Dalai Lama’s birthplace, who is the only Indian to have risen to such a high position in Gelupka Sect of Buddhism so far. Inside the monastery, there are several Stupas (Vihar) and people from all walks of life visit this place during the Buddhist New Year to get blessings for the coming year. Then proceed to the War Memorial, which is dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian War. The memorial is 40- feet -high and like a stupa in design. It is locally called ‘Namgyal Chortan’. The names of 2420 martyrs are imprinted in gold on 32 black granite plaques. You can also visit the craft center in Tawang, which sells beautiful masks, handwoven carpets, jewelry in silver, coral, and amber, 'chubas', the local dress, and delightful affordable mementos. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Tawang.

Today morning, after an early breakfast, you will drive to visit a high-altitude lake called Shonga-tser Lake, popularly known as Madhuri Lake, located 35 km away from Tawang near the China Border. The drive to Sangestser Lake is full of thrills, and one can still see the war bankers that were used during the Chinese aggression in 1962. Nestled amidst the pristine mountains and picturesque surroundings, it was formed in the aftermath of the 1950 earthquake. Prior to the earthquake, this piece of land used to be employed as the grazing ground for the cattle. Evidence of it can be seen in the protruding trunks of the dead trees in the middle of the lake. The lake has been under the supervision of Army men, who have also arranged for a cafeteria nearby. Tourists can relish the delicious Momos and Maggis, topped with a cup of tasty coffee or tea. Tourists can also take to trekking around the lake while enjoying the gentle lashes of the pleasant breeze around them. You can drive further to Bumla Pass, which is located about 37 km away from Tawang at the Indo-China border, over 15,200 feet above sea level. During your return, take a photo stop at the beautiful PTSO lake en route (17 km away from Tawang, Pangong Tang Tso Lake, popularly known as PT Tso, which is an extremely scenic drive with a bird's-eye view of the township below). Later in the afternoon, drive back to the hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Tawang.

After breakfast, transfer to Bomdila (8,200 ft.), the headquarter of the West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh and also known for its Buddhist monasteries. It has a lot of attractions for visitors because of its cool climate. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Later, visit Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery (Upper Gonpa), Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery (Lower Gonpa).Bomdila offers a wonderfully panoramic view of Himalayan landscapes and snow clad ranges. In the evening, you can visit the local market. Overnight stay at Bomdila.

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of world-famous one horned Rhinos. Kaziranga National Park is also UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. On arrival, check in at a hotel or resort. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Early morning, explore any one zone of Kaziranga National Park on the back of Elephant Safari. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Buffalo, Elephants and if you are lucky, you can see Tigers as well. It is also home to pelicans, storks, and darters, as there are a number of water bodies inside the park. Return to the  hotel or resort for breakfast. In the afternoon, go for another adventurous Jeep Safari in another range of the park. Return to the hotel or resort for leisure time in the evening. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

After breakfast, proceed for Shillong (4,900 ft.), called ‘Scotland of the East”. En route, visit Umium Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Get up early in the morning to enjoy the mesmerizing mornings of Shillong. On arrival at Cherrapunjee, visit Nohkhalikai Falls, Seven Sister Falls, Eco Park, Arwah Cave, and Mawsmai Cave. On your return to Shillong, visit the Elephanta Waterfalls. Overnight stay at Shillong Hotel.

After breakfast, visit Mawlynnong Village, the cleanest village in India. This cute and colorful little village is known for its cleanliness. It is situated 80 km from Shillong, and besides the picturesque village, it offers many interesting sights, such as the Living Root Bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock. Visit Dawki, It is along the Indo-Bangladesh border. You can enjoy boating in the crystal-clear waters of the Umgnot River. Evening return to Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong Hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day of sightseeing in Shillong. Includes Lady Hydra Park, the Air Force Museum, the Don Bosco Museum, and Ward’s Lake. After lunch, drive back to Guwahati. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Evening free at leisure. Overnight at Guwahati.

Early in the morning, visit Maa Kamkhya Temple for darshan, then return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive towards the airport for the onward journey.
