Established in the year 1977, the museum is located in the centre of Aizawl and is among the most visited tourist places in the state. The place displays a wide range of artefacts, textiles and photographs that inform about the rich heritage of the bygone Mizoram. The museum is also home to a variety of stuffed animal and bird species that have been preserved within the museum along with skulls and skeletons of the wild animals.
