Spread across 287 sq km of land, Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the entire country and is the most visited tourist destination in the state. Situated at a distance of 36 km from the city of Imphal, the lake is home to two endangered species of deer, Eld and Sangai. The lake is situated in the Keibul Lamjao Park and acts as an integral part of it. The lake is among the most unique sightseeing destinations and has been recognized in the list of world heritage sites by UNESCO, where tourists visit from all over the world to witness its beauty.
