Placed at a distance of 3k from the heart of Darjeeling, Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park is one of the favourite tourist destinations. Built-in 1957, the zoological park is spread across 67 acres of land on the top of Jawahar Parbat and inhabits a wide range of rare and endangered species of birds and animals. With pleasant climatic conditions and an elevation of 7,000 ft, the park is a natural habitat for various species of Himalayan animals. The park is also recognized as the largest breeding centre of Red Panda in India and is among the popular tourist sites of Darjeeling.
