Cellular Jail Sightseeing

Popular known as the cellular jail, the prison is an example of the colonial rule on the island made in the year 1896; the place was used to imprison the prisoners of war and Indian freedom fighters during the time of independence. Batukeshwar Dutt and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar were some of the notable names who were detained in this prison. Today this prison has been a popular tourist destination due to its architectural marvel and historical significance.

Jail Memorial : After the independence of 1947, the jail was converted into a national museum which is preserved without making any changes to its original form. The museum is a must-visit place in Andaman.
